Sam Youkilis – Under the sun

With a precise eye for light, colour and incidental moments, Sam Youkilis captures both the longing associated with travel and the beauty of the everyday. The New York-based photographer and filmmaker begins his day by looking out of the window before moving through the city as an attentive observer, always alert to seemingly insignificant situations transformed through his camera. For the exhibition, this idea of collecting, observing and sharing was translated into a concertina of postcards. Bound in book form, the individual cards can be detached and sent, turning the publication into an archive, an object and a means of communication.
